Excellent site, Michaal. Thanks so much for sharing this. I agree - QR codes in print materials might serve as a sort of bridge to get people thinking about using media in new ways.

Just wanted to share a site with some great examples of using QR in education. http://ilnk.me/5d3

My experience and interest is in using print in education and from what I think I see QR could be a game changer to improve outcomes at the bottom of the pyramid.

Our local middle school is focusing more time and attention on writing. I sent the teacher an email and directed her to this blog. The idea of creating a book is amazing incentive for students and very possible for this classroom.

Thanks again!

Well said, Robin. I'm a bit of a geek, so I tend to jump right in to whatever technology I want to learn, but I'm quite convinced that it isn't possible to get up to speed in SL without a guide... unless you're able and willing to commit huge amounts of time and effort to it.

And there's way too much other web stuff to explore that doesn't require that level of commitment. So I'm hoping for a tour guide myself as soon as I have a SL-capable machine!

Hello, Naardira! It's a pleasure to hear from you and I'm glad that you found this post useful. I'd be more than happy to give you a SL tour and show you something other than pornography! Ha! So next time you go into SL, look for a friendship offer from Spiral Theas (that's me in SL) and we'll find each other.

just started sceond life about a week or too ago and I am excited to find your very relevant and recent post. I am an aspiring educator, currently struggling to obtain a double major in early childhood education and elementary education @ Southern University New Orleans. Your post reminded me of alot of good things that I had heard about Second Life a good while back as opposed to the extremely lifeless,(outside of a plethora overly sexed male avatars requesting sexual favors) environment that I have encoutered thus far encountered. I had no idea about the virtual Africa. That sounds AMAZING. Art, plays, music ? I have been to several clubs and met a few characters of interest but none to the point of making my stay on Second Life beneficial or enjoyable. I admit I went in alone but I did do a little reading of an article or two so I assumed I was adequately prepared. How wrong I was, but your post gives me hope. InWorld my SL name is "Naadira Aghurabor", If you have time please shoot me an offline messages so that I can make some sort of appointment to see SL through your eyes. I hope to network with you soon. ... I know, long comment :)
