A brainbow

A brainbow Have you seen these stunning images? They come from Jeff Lichtman’s (Harvard) lab where they’ve genetically engineered mice to furnish them with fluorescent proteins. As the red, green, and blue flourescing proteins are expressed, they reveal a sort of wiring diagram of the brain. Lichtman has dubbed them “brainbows” and explains that the aim of this work is to “tag the individual wires with their own color”. Nice.
