TimeTube

Here’s a great example of a useful mash-up.  It’s called Time Tube. Think of it as YouTube meets a timeline.  You enter a topic (say, “Obama”) and up will come all the YouTube videos on that topic, arranged in a timeline.  You can drag your way through the timeline, clicking on the thumbnails for individual clips to watch them, in situ. Each thumbnail includes the date and a short title.  You can zoom to enlarge or reduce the scale and view your video collection as a timeline, a flipbook (ala coverflow), a list, or map.  Once it’s built, you can share your timeline (by either emailing a link or embedding a string of code, as I’ve done here on this blog entry).  This is a great example of the power of a mash-up, particularly useful when showing video-phenomenon/trends that morphs over time.
